Denmark 2016: Anja Nissen’s entry penned by Emmelie de Forest in question
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Danish national broadcaster is deciding whether to disqualify the entry of Anja Nissen “Never Alone” as it was performed publicly since 2014, breaching therefore the EBU rules. The song is penned by 2013 Eurovision winner Emmelie de Forest and personally I think ti has a lot of “Teardrops” in it.
Breaching the September 1st rule didn’t seem to bother DR a lot while lots of complaints submitted to the national broadcaster but regional newspaper Ekstra Bladet made a fuzz about it. Jan Lagermand Lundme, DR’s Head of Entertainment although stated he will think about the issue, didn’t bother really to tai any action especially when (according to him) the song was listened by 2,000 people only.
It was the DR rules though that made the difference since they specifically do not allow any public release of the song prior to the national final.
“The compositions chosen for the competition (music, text, demo recording) with a maximum duration of 3 minutes should generally not in any way have been performed in public, officially published on any media, or sold without explicit consent from DR. This includes but is not limited to radio, TV, the Internet (eg. YouTube etc.). DR must be informed immediately if the composition has been published earlier on eg. SoundCloud and it is up to DR to decide if the composition can join the competition.”
The song is disqualified by we don’t know yet whether Anja will remain in the competition with another song or will she be replaced by another act?
