Denmark 2015: meet the DMGP participants & vote online
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – Tomorrow DR will officially present the entries in Melodi Grand Prix 2015, but yesterday the official CD was leaked and the performers and song titles are out. While we wait for tomorrow when the songs will be released, here are some facts of what we know about the artists. You can follow the press conference tomorrow at 14:00 CET on www.dr.dk/grandprix when the songs and performers will be presented.
Andy Roda – Love Is Love
Danish singer Andy Roda has already performed on a Eurovision stage. During last years contest in Copenhagen, Andy was backing singer for Denmark’s Basim. Andy Roda has released several albums and he has also been the front singer for Safri Duo. Andy is also known in the States, where he participated in the talent show “Next Big Star”, where he came in second.
Anne Gadegaard – Suitcase
Anne Gadegaard is well known to Junior Eurovision fans. She represented Denmark in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with “Arabiens Drøm”. Now she is ready to return to Eurovision – this time for adults – and her song “Suitcase” is written by her boyfriend Micky Skeel, who is also a singer-songwriter.
Anti Social Media – The Way You Are
Anti Social Media is a new group made by Danish X Factor judge Remee with DJ and producer Chief1. We don’t know much about them yet, but hopefully we will tomorrow.
Babou – Manjana
Babou first appeared on TV in 2005 when he participated in a talent show called “The stage is yours” and became runner-up. In 2011 he participated in the Danish version of “The X Factor” and came in third. His single “Supernova” from 2014 was the title song of the reality show “Paradise Hotel” in Denmark and now he is ready to enter the Eurovision stage.
Cecilie Alexandra – Hotel A
The young Danish shooting star Cecilie Alexandra Skov will perform a song in Melodi Grand Prix 2015 that the Swedish musician Marcos Ubeda was written. He has written 17 songs in the Swedish Melodifestivalen and now he will try his chances in Denmark.
Julie Bjerre – Tæt På Mine Drømme
In 2013 Julie Bjerre won a Danish talent show called “Mentor” where artists. The 17 year old singer won a record contract in the show and last year she released the song “Zero”. Now she wants to represent Denmark in Eurovision with a song that will be performed in Danish in the national final.
Marcel & Soulman Group – Når Veje Krydses
Marcel Gbekle is also well-known on the Eurovision stage. As Andy Roda, Marcel was also backing singer for Basim during last years Eurovision Song Contest. In 2009 he participated in “The X Factor” with the group Alien Beat Club and came in second. The group released a album after “The X Factor” and since then Marcel went solo. In Melodi Grand Prix 2015 he his band Soulman Group that consists of Joachim Tilsted, Simon Søvndal, Christian Aagren Nielsen and Carsten Lysdal will join him on stage.
Sara Sukurani – Love Me Love Me
Sara Sukurani was born in Sri Lanka, but came to Denmark as one year old. She has released her first single “BodiBodi” in 17 countries, but this time she stays in Denmark for Melodi Grand Prix with hopes to represent Denmark in Austria.
Tina & René – Mi Amore
Tina Stachowiak and René Machon will make the only duet on stage for Melodi Grand Prix 2015. They are both solo artists, but for Eurovision they will sing together. Rene has released an album in 2011 and Tina released the single “Mit hjerte kalder” in 2013.
World of Girls – Summer Without You
World of Girls is made of five girls – Nina, Cecilie, Camilla, Ivy and Mette – and the group was made by René Dif from Danish hit group Aqua. Last year they released their single “Weekend Girl”.
DID YOU KNOW?
Melodi Grand Prix 2015 will be held in Aalborg on February 7 hosted by Esben Bjerre and Jacob Riising. One of the 10 songs will win the contest and represent Denmark in one of the two semi finals in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna, Austria. Last year Denmark placed 9th in the contest with Basim and “Cliche Love Song”.
