December 07 🇪🇺 The latest headlines from the #Eurovision world
DENMARK – Brand new song by Emmelie de Forest, the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest winner from Denmark. The song is titled Sanctuary and its the first single from her new record label. Emmelie says: “A Sanctuary could be many different things. To me, it’s all the ideas that pop up in your head and then suddenly you see them transform from a feather in your mind to actual wings. It’s really the feel-ing of creating something, weather it be a song, a story or a painting. So to me a sanctuary is not just a place to hide from danger, but a place away from the world and the daily life where you can dream and create.”
AUSTRIA – it was revealed that the Eurovision entry for the 2018 bid to win the contest by César will be titled “Nobody But You”. We remind you that the artist who was the two previous years backing vocalist for FYR Macedonia, Serbia and Bulgaria was selected internally by ÖRF.

NORWAY – Norwegian newspager VG claims that Alexander Rybak’s return to Eurovision scene is imminent and he will apply for the 2018 MGP. The rumour comes in addition to the following Instagram post made earlier. But he is not the only one rumoured for the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix, Alexander Wahlmann and Stella Mwangi are also tipped to enter the national selection, something which can make the entire show exciting as its final coincides with the final of Melodifestivaln on early March.
PORTUGAL – Questions have been raised by the presentation of the 2018 Eurovision stage design. Everyone noticed that there is no LED screens, something which is confirmed by the stage designer, Florian Wieder. Some say this happens to cut the costs and some say that RTP wants to follow Salvador’s motto that music should prevail the show. But this also means that many countries with financial problems will not be able to support their acts with at least a spectacular graphic deigns in the backdrop while countries like Russia, Sweden and Azerbaijan can afford. It also brings bad memories from the similar stage strategy followed in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest which didn’t create any spectacular show on TV with the lack of LED use.
ISRAEL – Only two acts managed to proceed to the next phase of The Next Star Israel in the tenth episode. May Thor 79% and Eliran Elias 71% were the qualifiers. The show jury is membered by Static & Ben-El Tavori, Keren Peles, Harel Skaat and Assaf Amdursky.
ITALY – The evaluation committee of the Sanremo area 2017 narrowed the 145 participants into 8.
