CYPRUS – The past few days team of CyBC was in Athens aiming to get along with the assigned composer Alex Papaconstantinou an established artist to represent the island of Aphrodite in Lisbon. So far we knew that original proposal to Tamta was declined by the singer as well as from Helena Paparizou, a close friend to the composer. Despite both of them liking the song it’s unknown what stopped them from accepting the proposal.
The current options for CyBC right now are: First, they can return to the talent show applicants and select another option. Second they give another effort to book Tamta, which sounds unlikely at the moment. Third option, according to fan sites, is to book Eleni Foureira and fourth reasonable option is to try and get Chistiana Louizu, winner of the 2016 Bulgarian X-Factor and former national selection participant for Cyprus.
Christiana Louizu Hadjiordanou is a Cypriot singer and the winner of the 4th season of X Factor Bulgaria. She is competing under the name Christiana Loizou from 2015, which is considered simpler for non-Greek speakers. She grew up in Larnaca, Cyprus with her parents Louis and Sotirula. In 2005, she competed in her first concert in Veliko Tarnovo, winning it.
Two years later she moved to Bulgaria, furthering her studies in opera singing at the Sofia National Academy of Music and working in the National Opera and Ballet of Bulgaria. In 2014, she attempted to represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 alongside Mariana Moskofian, with the song “Sailing Ships, Pirates and Dragons”, but didn’t qualify for the final.
