Cyprus 2015: Big “Melodifestivalen” plans announced
NICOSIA, CYPRUS – The collaboration of CyBC and MAD TV Cyprus is now official and the organisers announced the details for the national selection format.
The submissions should take place from Cypriots (living in the island or abroad) and they can collaborate with foreign authors. Performers though should be Cypriots only (residents of Cyprus or not).
Submissions due on September 5th. Then the national broadcaster will select the songs needed for the next phase. In the first phase there will be 1 minute presentation of the song followed by jury comments. Vocals should be live while backing vocals can be playback. No live instruments allowed. Each participant should get 51% of jury votes to proceed to the next phase.
In the second phase there will be live shows with live performances where tele voting (50%) and jury voting (50%) will decide the songs which will proceed to the final phase. From each show, the voting winner song goes to the final while the 2nd song will go to “Second Chance”.
From Second Chance two songs will go to the final as well.
In the final things are not simple as well. The direct qualifiers and the two second chance winners will fight for the Final’s Super Final where two songs will be selected by jury and public. In the super final both jury and tele voting will decide the winner.
