COPENHAGEN 2014 LIVE: WINNERS PRESS CONFERENCE
COPENHAGEN, DENMARK – The press conference is about to begin. Stay tuned! Conchita enters the winner’s press conference while her entry “Rise Like A Phoenix” is played. She’s holding her trophy and the reactions from the press are just amazing!
Conchita says she only realized she had won at the very last moment. And for her it’s a dream come true and he’s glad of the message he has spread during this contest.
She is called an example by a first journalist. She revealed that being in 6th and then 11th position to perform could have been seen as a sign since int’s her birthday. But she does not believe in those kind of sogns anyway.
When asked about her projects, she says that music will be part of her future project for sure.
She pays a tribute to the other divas of this years contest (Suzy from Portugal in particular). She gets many compliments from all journalists, especially by a Ukrainian one.
A meMber of Austrian delegation is now thanking a veeery long list of persons who have helped for victory. He ends his speech underlining that Conchita is just “a lady with a beard”, and says that Vienna is already waiting the Eurovision Song Contest 2015, and that Conchita could even host it.
An Italian journalist asks Conchita if she had thought about giving up after she fails in Austrian national final 2 years ago. Of course the artist that she has been learning since then and that giving up had never been an option. Conchita know thanx her agent, friends and family.
Conchita is happy he has joined the Eurovision family with a message of tolerance and acceptance. He believes also people outside Eurovision think the way he does.
Austria has been waiting a victory for 48 years and is eager to organize a great and open minded contest next year!
Conchita, speaking about president Putin, repeat the sentence he said on stage “we’re unstoppable”. Let’s hope he appreciates…
The singer says that yes started to sing watching the Little Mermaid movie (hence her love for Copenhagen). Since then singing has been the love of her life, and since September he is thrilled with happiness even if he doesn’t take anything for granted.
When asked if he plans a trip to Australia this year, the answer is very positive! Ηe’s then asked why he thinks it took 15 years for another victory from a openly gay artist. She declares that arts is beyond this king of barriers and that the sex préférences don’t have any importance here.
Conchita, who has been crying the whole time of the point ceremony, found it difficult to realize her forthcoming victory. She’s called an absolute gay icône, and he declares that tolerance is not a matter of country and that also Eastern Europe has its gay communities and that human rights have to succeed everywhere.
After the very positive reactions during his semi-final, Conchita did not change her expectations and just wanted to enjoy the 3 minutes she was given on stage. He wishes now to win a Grammy, but that is not his next step.
He ‘s now congratulated by ORF (Austrian national broadcaster). The singer says he has dreamed for victory but had no specific expectation. He just wanted to achieve this goal. A huge party is of course going to take place in Austria when she flies back home tomorrow.
He is feeling unique emotions with this victory because it is beyond everything, it’s not just a singing trophy for him.
About a new participation in Eurovision, Conchita think that she would like to be part of Eurovision, as a host for example, but not as an entrant since there are many good singers in Austria.

The EBU will be working with ORF to have, if possible, an even better song contest, somewhere in Austria. The EBU will soon go to Vienna to meet ORF.
