Conchita Wurst on French television
PARIS, FRANCE – One of the most popular programs on French TV is « Touche Pas À Mon Poste », an entertaining talk-show about television and the media. “TPMP”, hosted by Cyril Hanouna and a bunch of journalists, is broadcasted daily on the D8 channel. (You may remember Hanouna since he was the French spokesperson in 2008, before becoming the national commentator in 2009 and 2010).
Tonight, despite a growing rumor, unaware viewers were surprised to see that Cyril’s secret guest was no other than Conchita Wurst herself!
The bearded diva made a short (25 mns) but good impression! In spite of some obvious language issues and funny translation problems the lady was a great guest and looked as fabulous as ever. She was there for the promotion of her forthcoming Parisian show (read below).
She granted the audience with an a cappella performance of her winning entry but the greatest moment was when Conchita was watching a video of Tom Neuwirth performing on Tv a few years back. (as a solo performer in real TV program “Starmania” and then as a member of boy band Jetzt Anders).
She officially announced that her album, before due for Xmas, was delayed and that she was now focusing on tracks for her show in Paris. As a joke, she was then asked to cast a dancer for her show among the journalists (a quite funny moment). Eventually, there was a quiz show about Conchita’s life.
If you have missed the show, you can watch it again on D8 tonight at 11:05 pm and tomorrow at 9:00 am.
Cannes Film Festival, Fête de la Musique, Jean-Paul Gaultier’s new muse, an interview on French biggest channel TF1, and now a special guest on TPMP… wow! Has the diva fallen in love with France? This is a sure thing now, especially since we’ve also learned today that Conchita will appear on the stage of world-famous Paris cabaret “The Crazy Horse”, from November 9th to 15th! For a few evenings, she will perform “Rise Like A Phoenix” as well as one of her new songs, dressed in Gaultier’s creations. To be continued…
TPMP is quite an odd very French show, filled with jokes (not to say privates jokes) and I’m not sure Conchita got the concept, but at least we can say she’s a great pretender and that was great to watch her on French TV screens.
