CZECH REPUBLIC – Česká televize in a surprise announcement kicked off the 2020 national selection! It will be huge and it will take place on January 25 at Forum Karlín in Prague. The show will be aired live and those interested to attend will experience for the very first time a national selection in the country.
Česká televize has invited all interested musicians, producers, composers to submit entries for the participation in the national preselection for the Eurovision 2020. Songs should be submitted until 30 June 2019 to firstname.lastname@example.org
Preliminary the show is known as National Round of Eurovision 2020.
CZECH REPUBLIC – Lake Malawi is a Czech indie pop band from Třinec formed in 2013. The band consists of lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist Albert Černý, bassist and keyboardist Jeroným Šubrt, and drummer Antonín Hrabal. The band was formed by Černý following the breakup of his former band Charlie Straight. Their debut extended play We Are Making Love Again was released in 2015, followed by their debut studio album Surrounded by Light in 2017.
Lake Malawi was founded by lead vocalist and frontman Albert Černý following the breakup of his former band Charlie Straight in September 2013. The band’s name is inspired by the song “Calgary” by Bon Iver, from their 2011 self-titled album. They later released their debut single “Always June” in 2014, performing it live during an interview with BBC London.
In 2014, Lake Malawi performed at major Czech music festivals Colours of Ostrava and Rock for People, and The Great Escape Festival in the United Kingdom. They later released their debut extended play We Are Making Love Again in 2015. They opened for several notable acts performing in Prague, including The Kooks, Mika, and Thirty Seconds to Mars. In 2016, drummer and former Charlie Straight member Pavel Palát left the band; he was replaced by Antonín Hrabal.
In 2017, they self-released their debut studio album Surrounded by Light. The album also produced the singles “Surrounded by Light” and “Paris”, which charted on the Rádio – Top 100 in the Czech Republic. Lead guitarist Patrick Karpentski left the band in late-2017. In 2019, it was announced that they are taking part in the Czech national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Friend of a Friend”.

CZECH REPUBLIC – For its second edition, EUROVISION SONG CZ (the Czech on-line national final) is going a step further. Unlike last year, in 2019 anyone can take part to the voting in order to select one of the 8 acts to fly to Tel Aviv. Indeed, through the official Eurovision app, you can now vote for your favourite entry, whatever the country you’re from.
As if this was not enough, the Czech delegation as another treat for us. Indeed, one lucky international fan will be given the opportunity to present the international fans voting results ! If you wanna be this ultimate spokesperson it is quite easy:
download the app, vote, and post a screenshot of your results in the comment section. In addition, write down your estimate of the number of international votes for this year’s selection, and finally share the post ! 5 fans with the closest estimated will get a chance to be part of the video announcing of the results on January 29th.

CZECH REPUBLIC – Moments ago ČT revealed the eight songs and artists for the national final. The online voting via the official Eurovision app will include the Czech votes as public voting and any other nationality votes as part of a jury member. The winner will be announced by the end of the month.
The Czech Republic has participated at the Eurovision Song Contest seven times since making its debut in 2007. After receiving nul points in the semi-final of the 2009 Contest and a lack of interest from the Czech public, the Czech broadcaster ČT decided to withdraw from future contests. ČT announced their return to the contest in 2015, with an internal selection being used to select their fourth Eurovision entry.
In 2016, Gabriela Gunčíková became the first Czech Republic entrant to reach the final, finishing 25th with the song “I Stand”. After the country failed to qualify in 2017, Mikolas Josef became the second Czech entrant to reach the final and first to reach the top ten, placing sixth in 2018 with the song “Lie to Me”.
CZECH REPUBLIC – The names of the participants for the Czech national final leaked ahead of today’s press conference which is set for 13:00 CET. Thee 8 participants are invited by the national broadcaster. Stay tuned for the official announcement and songs’ presentation.
CZECH REPUBLIC – According to local press Jakub Ondra’s bid for Tel Aviv is available online and is titled Space Sushi. The song is totally modern pop which definitely aims to 18-24 target group of ages. The song is about fulfilling your dream ands to been inactive. An elector pop song which might be catchy and maybe give his country another high ranking in Eurovision, a country which entered the media spotlight for the very first time in 2018 due to Mikolas Josef.
SPAIN – Following his participation and performance at the OGAE Spain Congress 2018, Mikolas Josef presented his new single “Me Guesta” (number 3 in YouTube trends) at Madrid’s CCME (Coca Cola Music Experience). You can see footage of his performance and fan reactions in the short video below.
