Bulgaria not returning to Eurovision 2015
SOFIA, BULGARIA – Although BNT participates in Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2014 as a returning country (and between us, with a great song this year), BNT announced this morning that they are withdrawing from Eurovision 2015 although preliminary they submitted their interest to enter Vienna’s edition.
Bulgarian national broadcaster originally entered the list of participants last month, submitting the necessary paperwork, with the indication that if the necessary funds and sponsors found then BNT will enter the contest. Unfortunately sponsors or funds haven’t been found, therefore BNT had to withdraw their initial interest.

Bulgaria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest nine times since their debut at the 2005 contest in Kiev. The country’s best result is a fifth place finish for Elitsa & Stoyan at the 2007 contest. Bulgaria has failed to qualify for the final on its eight other appearances at the contest, most narrowly in 2012, when Sofi Marinova lost out on the 10th qualifying place from the second semi-final in a tie break with Norway.
