Breaking News: Stockholm to host Eurovision 2016
STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN – European Broadcasting Union and Swedish national broadcaster announced that Stockholm will host the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest at Globen Arena.
The dates are also confirmed to be 10, 12 for the two semifinals and 14 of May for the grand final.in Vienna just over a month ago.

“Stockholm is music. Our city seethes with activity revolving music. Creativity is close to our hearts and is something that we want to emphasise and be noticed even more clearly in the city,” says Karin Wanngård, Mayor of Stockholm. “To be the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest gives us the opportunity to reinforce and stimulate the involvement which the music creates for people in Stockholm and all that will travel here to take part of the Swedish musical wonder,” the proud Mayor added.
It will be the 2nd time Stockholm’s Globen Arena will host the Eurovision Song Contest as the first time was in 2000 where a spectacular show took place. More than 14,000 people can attend the show (could be 16,000 depending the camera allocation)
There will be a press centre in the premise for 1,500 journalists hosted at the Hovet venue and Annex will host the delegations.
European Broadcasting Union announced that participating countries have to submit participation my mid September while the official participants list will be announced by the end of the year. In late January the Semifinals allocation draw will take place.
