BONNIE TYLER TO RECEIVE BASCA AWARD

LONDON, THE UNITED KINGDOM – The singer — who represented Britain this year in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Believe in Me, Bonnie Tyler — is to be given a Gold Badge by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) at a ceremony in London’s Savoy Hotel. She’s to be honoured alongside fellow recipients, ex Rolling Stone Bill Wyman and long-serving BBC radio DJ Johnnie Walker.

The Gold Badges, which honour those who have helped to support songwriters and composers, will be handed out on October 16. Fran Matthews, BASCA’s head of events said: “The Gold Badge awards are designed to honour those whose work has furthered the work of composers and writers. Bonnie has been in the industry for decades and has sold millions of records. It’s people like her these awards are meant for.”

Bonnie had phenomenal success with her album Faster Than The Speed Of Night in 1983, which included power ballads Total Eclipse Of The Heart and Holding Out For A Hero.
