BEOSONG 2013: NEDA UKRADEN SUBMITS A SONG
Neda Ukraden, one of the most famous pop singers in the pre-war Yugoslavia, has applied to take part in the Serbian national Eurovision selection, Beosong. The 62 year old started her career off in 1967 and has an impressive number of songs and albums to her name. She was born in Croatia to Serbian parents but spent most of her life in Sarajevo in Bosnia. She relocated to Belgrade when the civil war broke out. She remains popular throughout the former Yugoslavia.
Neda says her Beosong entry was written by Dušan Bačić, who wrote her big hits “Da se nadjemo na pola puta” (Let’s meet half way) and “Na Balkanu” (In the Balkans).
The legendary singer will have tough competition. RTS has confirmed that 80 entries have been sent in. A team of expert judges will choose 15 singers for the semi final, which will take place on March 2, five of which will proceed to the final based on a public televote.
