BELGIUM – The Belgian broadcaster VRT has said it is in the process of selecting the country’s entry for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
In a statement, the Flemish broadcaster said, “We are in discussions with several performers and their representatives. There are a number of singers interested, both young and old, as well as new talent and more famous artists. The most important thing for us is to find the best combination. It all starts with the performer”. VRT added, “As soon as we reach a decision we will make it public. It is still too early to speculate who it may be, but we are entering the last stretch of the process”.
The broadcaster has already formed an expert jury to select Belgium’s Eurovision representative. Several artists have expressed their interest to take part in the contest including the famous singer Natalia Druyts, who was runner up in the Belgian national selection in 2004, as well as Belgian 2006 representative Kate Ryan, and singers Belle Perez and 2 Fabiola.
Blanche represented Belgium at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, coming fourth in the final.
