BELARUS – BTRC always following closely the Eurovision related events pays once again attention to the preparations for the national final, set for March 7th. Belarus will participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
The Belarusian broadcaster National State Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Belarus (BTRC) will organise a national final in order to select the Belarusian entry for the 2019 contest in Tel Aviv, Israel.
On the 1st of February it was announced that 113 songs had been submitted for the national final. 73 participating songs were performed during an audition on 4 February 2019. From this, an expert jury chose the 10 finalists that would compete in the televised national final.
The final will take place on 7 March 2019. The winner will be decided exclusively by a professional jury panel. Each jury member will be able to award every song from 0 to 10 points. In case of a tie, the winner will be decided by a second vote.
Ten songs which usually the core of Eurofans and the bookies don’t pay attention but for sure it’s going to be a dramatic final since (for me) all ten songs are worthy to represent the country in Tel Aviv.
The choice of the songs has been thorough and thankfully BTRC didn’t fall in the trap of publicity with submissions like Mihai Traistariu or Day Sampson. It was also looked like the President of the Republic himself gave a guideline to the nation to vote wisely.
No matter whether you like any of the songs in the Belarusian final, one thing is for sure: this country takes Eurovision Song Contest more serious than many other nations, while social media of BTRC and fan clubs are heating u thee excitement with dozens of posts (unfortunately never in English).
Note that BTRC has announced plans for changes in the national selection format as of 2020.
