BELARUS 2014: BACK IN TIME FOR TEO
MINSK, BELARUS – The tables turned on Teo last night when he hosted a group of singing grandmothers from the village of Opchin in the Lyubansk area, collectively known as ‘Pavalyaki.’ They were the main attraction on his TV show ‘Наперад у мiнулае’ (Forward to the Past), but were reversing the normal pattern of the show and instead turning the clock… backwards.
Usually Teo and his team track down traditional villages and performers from remote areas of Belarus and revamp them into modern versions that are sung by contemporary vocalists. However last night it was his Eurovision song for Belarus, “Cheesecake”, that gets the retro treatment from the Pavalyaki grandmothers.
Will they be willing to tell him that he’s not their ‘Patrick Swayze’ or that they lost their train of thought when he called them ‘My Sweet Cheesecakes’? Find out in the video below!
