Måns arrives in Madrid and impresses everyone
MADRID, SPAIN – In a recent interview, Mäns Zelmerlöw, who was crowned Eurovision winner 2015 with the song “Heroes” and currently in Spain where he has been busy with interviews as he promotes his “Perfectly damaged” album.
Mäns has just released his sixth album and took time out to discuss his Eurovision experience, he has worked as composer for Melodifestivalen and is keen to stress that the experience will be repeated in future. His latest impact has been winning Eurovision with “Heroes”, a song he likes, “a good song, one that gives out a message”; he says.
After participating six years previously at Melodifestivalen to try to represent Sweden, his return coincided with victory. His new album “Perfectly damaged”, includes three songs that were possible options for him at this years’ national final. One song is sung alongside fellow singer Tilde Vinther, it was written in South Africa and transmits a magic that is included throughout the album, an album that has taken months to compile.
Mäns considers his Eurovision victory tough to achieve, with Russia and Italy extremely close until near the end, it made for a great show. He considers one of his best moments when Sweden surpassed Russia in the voting and the entire stadium began shouting for Sweden. It was a fantastic experience. He also has good words for Conchita Würst, whom he originally met in London at the Eurovision 60th Anniversary show with their last meeting being in a taxi after the Eurovision final.
He would like to present at next year’s final and considers his music a continuous evolving experience. He has previously written the song “Sufrirás” for David Bisbal, a big star in Spain, who also took part in Eurovision as a backing singer for Rosa Lopez in 2002, the song was sang by both Bisbal and Pixie Lott. Finally Mäns has some charity projects on the go, the Z&B Foundation working alongside Jonas Björkman with schools in Africa.
