Anouk and Trinjtje are now on the other side?

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – The 2013 and 2015 Dutch Eurovision representatives are no longer on speaking terms. It comes a month after Anouk, who represented the Netherlands in Malmo, said on national television how the 2015 representative Trijntje was naive and criticised the dress she wore on the big night.
Anouk has now explained that she tried to reach out to the singer following her comments, “I found out she was not happy with what I did. But I have not seen her since Eurovision. After my appearance in the talk show I got a really long voicemail from Trijntje, but I prefer people to speak face to face. So I invited her for a cup of coffee, but she said she did not have the time for it”, Anouk said. She then went on to accuse her counterpart of having bad taste, “I told her: I do not see your problem. Everything I said there, I have told you before. When I saw her in that dress, I messaged her immediately. I understand that if you are not that creative enough yourself, you should ask others to help you with that. But if those ‘others’ have a lack of taste, it all goes wrong. And that is what happened. Still I feel sorry for her”.
Anouk went on to say that Eurovision was a big slap in the face for Trinjtje who failed to qualify for the final this year, coming third last in the semi. “She should be able to listen to criticism. And I am not the person that will protect you from criticism because you are a friend of me – that is not how I do”, Anouk concluded.

Anouk represented the Netherlands in Malmo with the song “Birds”. She came ninth in the final, achieving the best Eurovision placing for her country since 1999 at the time. Only a year later she was outdone by the Common Linnets who were runners up in Copenhagen.
