NORWAY – Norwegian participants in the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest seem to have stated in a recent interview that their country’s national broadcaster is negotiation with the European Broadcasting Union a rule change.

According to JOWST, NRK wants to scrap the rule saying that pre-recorded vocals are prohibited to make sure that all vocal performances are live. The issue seems to have arisen as the Norwegian entry uses a lot of electronic voices in their song entry “Grab The Moment”.

There should be a Reference Group decision in due time. In case the rule is lifted and partial vocals are allowed to be pre-recorded then a lot of speculation will come up in the future participations.

It was back in 1999 when Croatian entry got a penalty for using pre-recording backing vocals.
