Sanremo Festival 2017: Francesco Gabbani wins!

ITALY – Francesco Gabbani just won the 2017 edition of Sanremo Festival with the song “Occidentali’s Karma”. He was among the 3 super finalists which means alongside: Fiorello Mannoia (bookies favourite) and Ermal Meta.


Francesco Gabbani (born in Carrara, Tuscany, on 9 September 1982) is an Italian singer-songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the Newcomer’s section of the Sanremo Music Festival 2016 with the song “Amen”. The song also won the Critics Award “Mia Martini”. “Amen” was released as the lead single from the album Eternamente ora. The single was certified platinum by the Federation of the Italian Music Industry. In 2016, Gabbani composed the soundtrack of Italian comedy film Poveri ma ricchi, directed by Fausto Brizzi. The song “Foglie al gelo” was released in December 2016 as a single from the film’s soundtrack album.
