Lys Assia: “Celine Dion only participated in 1988 because I was under contract in America”

SWITZERLAND – Lys Assia, the winner of the very first Eurovision Song Contest in 1956, shares her memories of that bright event with Dukascopy TV. Interesting to note, that the contest at its dawn in the post-war Europe didn’t look like a modern version of it, for example, the majority of songs were performed not in English, and the system of voting was entirely different. We hope you’re intrigued enough to watch this lovely interview with fair lady.

She reveals: “Celine Dion only participated in 1988 because I was under contract in America, otherwise I would have been me once more who represented Switzerland.”
