ROMANIA – Eurovision fans found out about Sergiu after releasing We Were Young by Stig Rästa, which has had not a happy ending. But now the former Eurovision Romania contestant released a new single called Tell Me.
After the We Were Young national final failure in January 2017, Sergiu took a break for almost a year from releasing new music. “It was horrible and frustrating. When I released the song, everyone was so excited and told me that I have real chances of representing Romania at Eurovision 2017. There was a lot of pressure for a new indie artist like me and also a lot of expectations. When I went to the live auditions and I saw myself in front of the juries I just snapped and sang quite bad. I felt like I was suffocating on the stage. I failed everyone who believed in my song and it really messed me up.” said the artist.
One year later he returned to Selectia Nationala with Every Little Thing finishing 4th in the semi-final.
Now he releases the song Tell Me which is also written and composed by Sergiu. The track is about the rare moments when we fall in love with somebody that we’ve just met. More like feeling, an intense connection and chemistry with a total stranger, and you feel as this could be the beginning of something very beautiful. With the release of his new single, the Romanian singer announced that his second solo album will be ready for the fans this fall. The name of the album is yet to be revealed.
Being asked if he is interested in participating at Selectia Nationala in 2019, Sergiu answered: “I would really like to write a song for someone, but I don’t think I want to participate as a singer this year.”
Although Sergiu is an independent singer, after We Were Young he was able to gain more attention and his latest singles all reached the Top 5iTunes Romanian Chart. Right now he is also scheduling a small promo tour in Romania for his upcoming album.
