Betty Missiego talks Eurovision at PreParty
Formar Spanish Eurovision participant Betty Missiego, who came second in 1979 with the song “Su canción” (his song), has made an appearance at the PreParty 2019 in Madrid.
The event at the La Riviera club in Madrid on Saturday 20th April, spent some time remembering Betty and her song, which was performed in Jerusalem (Israel) in 1979.
Speaking about her appearance, she commented that she’s delighted that people still remember her after 40 years and that it’s wonderful to see the song she performed at the 24th Eurovision Song Contest be familiar to both parents and children. She considers her popularity related to coming second in the contest and considers it normal for Eurovision to have changed so much over the years.
Betty noted that previously, the contest was taken very seriously whereas now it’s simply a lovely entertaining show. “Eurovision offers a great opportunity for any singer”, she noted alongside believing that this year’s representative for Spain, Miki Núñez, offers a lively song and an attractive figure, something which could see him do well.
Betty would love to see Spain win Eurovision once more, but she cannot product how well the country will do in this year’s contest. She has told Miki to sing and perform as best as he sees fit and that doing just that, he will be unlikely to disappoint.
