AZERBAIJAN – Few days ago we got the stand in rehearsal of Azerbaijan and everyone admitted that the entry was one of the best Azeri entries ever in the Eurovision Song Contest combining the mainstream pop with the ethnic elements in a unique way with a powerful vocal performance of the signer.
Though the country ranked (initially 7th) but after the Belarusian aggregated results mistake the country dropped one place in the grand final scoring board. Speaking to local press the Azeri super hunk had complaints to make and had definitely no compliments for the winner:
“We should not have taken seventh place. Compatriots living in Europe voted for me enough. I think that at the contest the votes were incorrectly counted. The winner song was good, but the staging was weak. I think our performance was better.”
In the meantime Ictimai submitted an official complaint to the EBU (get in the line guys, EBU is busy receiving complaints this week – we wonder why) due to the map presented during the voting. The broadcaster’s statement says:
“During the performance of Azerbaijan’s representative at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, it was revealed that Karabakh and Nakhchivan were not marked on the map of the country. In this regard, the Public Television and Radio Company immediately turned with protest to the organizers of the competition and the leadership of the European Broadcasting Union. Currently, an explanation from the opposite side is expected.”
